Haiti is the poorest nation n the Western hemisphere. The country lacks such fundamental human needs as clean drinking water, adequate food supply, and basic health care. The people of Haiti suffer a high infant mortality rate, and a life expectancy of only 57 years. Only about 20% of the adult population has gainful employment.
There are over 71/2 million people in Haiti, a country the size of Maryland. The state of Wisconsin's size would allow Haiti to fit five (5) times within its borders. With virtually no natural resources, Haiti has devastated its forests to burn as fuel, and the country can only produce a fraction of the food it needs.
